The Atlantic Seaboard area of Camps Bay is situated at the base of 12 rugged mountain buttresses known as The Twelve Apostles. Boutique Hotels, small B&B’s and backpacker accommodation are plentiful. This is a popular area of Cape Town, known for its good restaurants, vibrant bars and white beach.
The beach road is lined with restaurants and bars. The long sandy beach is accessed directly from the road. There is a strip of lawn between the beach and the road which is popular with people playing volleyball or football.
The beach is long, covered in fine white sand and the sea is an azure blue. The water is very cold. Deck chairs and umbrellas are available for daily rental. When the summer prevailing wind, the South Easter, blows, the beach is not pleasant and most people will retire to one of the bars or restaurants lining the beach road.
Camps bay boasts a theatre called ‘Theatre on the Bay’. It is host to a variety of productions including plays, comedies and musicals.
