Aquila Game Reserve
A private game reserve two hours from Cape Town located on 4500 hectares of Karoo conservancy. All the big five can be seen and safaris are in open top 4WDs. Overnight and day safari options are available. Take the N1 from Cape Town and 10km before Touws river turn onto R46 to Ceres and the entrance is 2km further on the left (021 421 4998).
Boulders Penguin Colony
Close to Simon's Town is the colony of African Penguins. Boulders Beach, (021 786 2329).
Butterfly World

Cape Point Ostrich Farm
Learn a little about the ostrich on one of the guided tours. Cape Point Road (021 780 9294).
Clara Anna Fontein Game Reserve
A private game reserve with zebra, wildebeest and other game, where visits have to be pre arranged. Vissershoek Road, Durbanville (975 1533).
Die Vonds Snake Centre
Many snakes along with tortoises, lizards and other small reptiles. Main Street, Paarl and then along the R45 towards Malmesbury (021 869 8309).
Fairy Glen Game Reserve

Imhoff Farm
A working farmyard and lots of opportunities to experience animals close up. KommetjieRoad, Kommetjie (021 783 4545).
Inverdoorn Game Reserve
Inverdoorn is about two and a half hours from Cape Town and covers 10 000 hectares with over 550 animals. (021 464 4266).
Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm
200 bred Nile crocodiles with crocodile products on sale. Babylonstoren Road outside Paarl. (021 863 1142).
Monkey Town Primate Centre
A varied collection of monkey’s species. Mondeor Road outside Somerset West (021 858 1309).
Paarl Bird Sanctuary
A 45 hectare bird sanctuary with 140 species of birds. Drommedaris Street near Paarl (021 807 4500).
Rondeviel Nature Reserve
Hippos and birds on a wetland reserve. Fisherman’s Walk Road, Grassy Park (706 2404).
Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
A game reserve with the Big 5 about 3 hours drive from Cape Town. Between Montague and Barrydale (041 407 1000).
Shark Cave diving
A number of tour companies offer shark cave diving where sharks are observed close from the safety of a submerged cave, these can be booked out of Cape Town or when you reach Gansbaai where it all happens.
Solole Game Reserve

Spier Cheetah Park
A resident cheetah family stay on the Spier estate which is located in Stellenbosch.
Two Oceans Aquarium
A large aquarium with 3000 living animals including sharks, crabs, luminous jellies, tropical fish and a touch pool. Qualified divers can dive with the sharks. The sharks are fed at 1530 and the Penguins at 1200 and 1500. Dock Road, V&A Waterfront (021 418 3823).
Tygerberg Zoo
A collection of African animals in a caged environment. Klipheuwel/Stellenbosch exit off the N1 towards Paarl (884 4494).
Wiesenhof
Antelope, ostriches, cheetah wildebeest can be seen at Wiesenhof. R44 which is the Klapmut exit off the N1.
World of Birds
A large bird park with 3000 birds, birds, monkeys and small animals in large landscaped enclosures. Valley Road, Hout Bay (021 790 2730).
