Cape Point

Cape Point is a part of the Table Mountain National Park at the end of the peninsula and home to antelopes, baboon, ostrich and zebras and a diverse plant species. At the tip is Cape Point where the Cape Point lighthouse stands on top of the highest sea cliffs in South Africa. A funicular runs to the top of the 678 metre high peak or is a 15 minute walk.

There is a restaurant, barbeque facilities and gift shop. The Cape of Good Hope is just to the west of Cape point and has a sign giving the latitude and longitude and good for photo shots. Swimming is possible at Bordjiesdrif and Buffels Bay tidal pools.

The journey to Cape Point is an all day trip if time is given to stop at the villages en route and enjoy the scenic Chapmans Drive between Hout Bay and Noordhoek.  The reserve is open throughout the year from 0700 to 1700 daily in the winter and from 0600 to 1800 in the summer with an admission fee (021 780 9204).
