Cape Town Day Tours

Shark Cage Diving / Ocean Safari
The thrill of a lifetime! Nowhere else in the world can you match the rush of coming face to face with a one ton predator. Yeah sure, skydiving gets the blood pumping. Climbing mountains are tough. Jumping  from a bridge is over before it began. But shark cage  diving is the ultimate rush ? an experience that kicks off at sunrise and carries on long into the night (if you include all the stories you will be telling).

Cape Peninsula Tours
When it comes to scenery there are few places in the world capable of claiming a spot in the same league  as the Cape Peninsula. One  moment you are getting lost in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the next  you are travelling through small and charming coastal villages dotted along the coastline. If you are willing to brave the cold waters of the Atlantic you can even work in some time on the waves before heading out  for an evening of good food and better wine.

Garden Route Tours
Within a stretch of 200km you will be able to lose yourself between mountains and forests whilst beaches and quaint towns are nestled in between. The Garden Route can be considered as an activity safari: from exotic bird watching in undisturbed nature reserves to the world's highest commercial bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge.  George, the Garden Route's administrative centre, is home to a series of fine golf courses and culinary wonders. A mere chip and a putt from George the lush green world is transformed into arid semi-desert. Here you will find Oudtshoorn, the Big Bird Capital of South Africa.

Wine Route Tour
Towns such as Stellenbosch and Paarl are covered in history and centuries of wine making folklore. These towns are all dotted along the roads of the Western Cape making up the world famous Cape Wine Route. But what is good wine without good food? Franschoek, another one of the Cape Wine Route's  gems is considered Africa?s leader in culinary cultures. Good friends, good food, good wine. Indulge!  It's all there is to do.

The most popular daytrips out of Cape Town are into the winelands. There are many tours offered into this beautiful region, but it is also possible to create your own day out by selecting a group of wine farms to visit. Wine tasting is available and many farms have small restaurants offering light lunches, complemented by their own wines.

The small village of Franschoek nestled in the Franschoek valley surrounded by towering mountains is a popular day out. Franschoek was established by the French Hugenots in 1688 as they fled Europe to evade persecution for their religious beliefs. The town still retains a French identity and is known for its excellent restaurants. Wine estates surround the village and there are numerous B&Bs on the wine estates and in the village where one can stay. There are many antique shops, small boutiques and art galleries in the village.

The small university town of Stellenbosch is about ½ hours drive from Cape Town. It is the 2nd oldest European settlement in the Cape. The town is famous for its oak lined streets and is referred to as Eikestad (The City of Oaks). There are many art galleries, antique shops and restaurants in this quaint town.

Hermanus is situated approximately 1 ½ hours out of Cape Town. It is a popular destination from Cape Town. June. From June to September whales come into the Hermanus bay to calve. These spectacular animals are clearly visible in the bay and are often spotted close to shore in the small coves. Hermanus holds an annual whale festival to celebrate the presence of these massive creatures.

The Langebaan lagoon, about an hour up the west coast, is a popular destination for kite surfers and wind surfers. The village of Langebaan bordering on the beautiful azure blue waters of the lagoon with its sandy white beaches is a popular weekend destination for Capetonians.

The West Coast National Park (30 000ha) which borders the south side of the lagoon, is home to flamingoes and many other bird species. There is a restaurant and tourist center in the park. In August and September, magnificent spring flowers make for an unforgettable display in the park. The West Coast National Park is also the place where 'Eve's Footprint' was discovered; one of the earliest signs of human existence on the planet. The West Coast Fossil Park, just outside Langebaan, illustrates the ancient history of the region.
